OBJECTIVE

Native grassland corridor restoration

This project restored 8 hectares of native grassland along Warralily Boulevard in Armstrong Creek. Designed to function as a habitat corridor and biodiversity buffer, the grassland links existing remnant patches and strengthens the ecological footprint adjacent to Armstrong Creek.

Delivered over two stages across five years, the project began with comprehensive weed control to prepare the site. Stage 1 was sown in Autumn 2020, followed by Stage 2 in Autumn 2022. More than 160 kg of locally sourced native grass seed was direct seeded, supported by targeted planting.

The result is a well-established native grassland that now blends naturally into the surrounding landscape. It complements revegetated creeklines and is framed by footpaths, playspaces and formal lawns, while also protecting and buffering retained remnant vegetation.
